Tuxamee

Irving de Jesús Segovia is a Queer visual and performance artist from León, Guanajuato, Mexico. Tuxamee’s performance, photographic and collage work intertwines tradition as a constantly evolving system with humor and critique. His work explores themes of religion and popular figures such as the Virgin of Guadalupe, Chicano imagery, transvestism, queer lust, and the archetypes of being “Mexican.” He has created works across Mexico, collaborated in the musical field with Mexican and International artists (including La Bruja de Texcoco), and exhibited in Puebla, Mexico City, León, Guanajuato, Los Angeles, New York, Manchester, Athens, Montreal, and Buenos Aires.
