Tefan (Stephany Sánchez)
Stephany is a multidisciplinary Oaxacan artist born in San Jose, California. Now living in her family’s pueblo, San Jerónimo Yahuiche, Oaxaca, her work draws from her identity, bridging her U.S. upbringing with her reconnection to ancestral lands. Using screen printing, textiles, woodcutting, and other mediums, she weaves Oaxacan traditions into her art. She works from a communal art space, collaborating with local artists while refining her practice. As a transnational individual, she engages with political and social issues in both Mexico and the U.S., using her art to question, address, and spark collective awareness.
