Mauricio Novelo

Mauricio Novelo is a Mexican photographer and documentary filmmaker. His practice explores history, memory, and cultural tensions through film, photography, and installation. He has created documentary works in Hiroshima, Japan, Cuba, Mexico, and Turkey. His work in Mexico largely focuses on migration and currently explores Mexico’s southern border and the intersection of migration and metal recycling. He has also spent many years documenting cultural celebrations in Oaxaca, in particular, Dia de Muertos.
